Leif Parsell, the new “state house reporter” for the Maine Wire (a project of the Maine Heritage Policy Center), has endorsed a white supremacist video, saying it is a good description of what he thinks of ethnic diversity in the United States. In a post on a social web site called Policy Mic, he writes, “cultural diversity combines with our increasing racial and ethnic diversity to degrade our society… On diversity, I suggest this video: http://www.npitv.com/130.”
The video that Parsell promotes was produced by the National Policy Institute, an organization that endeavors to “elevate the consciousness of whites.” The group produces studies with titles like “The Costs and Benefits of Mass Deportation.”
The video Parsell promotes – entitled “Is Diversity a Strength?” – features an interview with white nationalist Jared Taylor. According to Taylor:
“The whole notion of diversity… is not just dangerous but unfortunate to whites, the people who built and established this nation… It’s not as though you can fill the country with Haitians and Guatemalans and turn them into the the moral heirs of Thomas Jefferson and George Washington. It’s simply not going to happen… If whites wake up to the fact that they face a real crisis, that their civilization, their continuation as a people… is at stake, they may do something about that and preserve at least part of the United States.”
In his online profile on Policy Mic, Parsell refers to America’s “settler-founders” and the year 2050, both talking points for white supremacy organizations like the National Policy Institute.
It is perhaps not surprising that the Maine Heritage Policy Center hired someone like Parsell. Both Parsell and the Maine Heritage Policy Center have been active in promoting efforts to roll back voting rights, like the recent failed campaign to end same day voter registration in Maine. In other online comments, Parsell has said that elections are overrated and that repressive dictator Augusto Pinochet “saved Chile” from democratically elected Allende. Parsell also rants about voting laws doing too much to promote “turnout.”

Yet another victim of political correctness run amuck.
By the way, the video in question is not of a “white supremacist.” Jared Taylor is simply an advocate for white people.
